Hey ITC Readers!
Today is Battle and I’s first wedding anniversary! We had the dreamiest winter wedding on 12/12/2015 and I can’t believe it’s already been a year ago. I know a lot of people write our a post on what they’ve learned in the last year or what advice they have for other couples, but honestly I feel like there are a million and one resources for advice, and what works for us may not necessarily work for others. So, I’ll say this-I’ve learned a lot and this year has been so fun. I’ll be enjoying time with my husband today to reflect and reminisce on the year. And I’ll be reliving this day through our stunning photos, and I want to share them with you!
Without further ado….
Our Happily Ever After Begins…
Our wedding took place at Ashton Gardens Atlanta, a venue with a ceremony and reception site all in one place. We got married in the prettiest glass chapel in the woods, and then danced the night away in a classic ballroom with stunning chandeliers. On my first visit to the venue, I knew that this was it. It was exactly what I wanted-all indoors to protect from cold weather but with stunning windows to the outside. I absolutely loved the vibe that the venue set, and all the venue staff was amazing in helping to create our perfect day.
Ashton Gardens has locations in Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Houston, and if you’re looking to get married in those areas I highly recommend using this venue!
Planning all the little details of the day was one of the best parts of the process! We had so many little ways to make the wedding our own.
My mom made these amazing pew bows our of tulle, ribbon, and Christmas ornaments for each of the aisles.
Our favors were pinecone fire starters-they looked like they were pinecones covered in snow! I got the idea from Pinterest, and it look us a LONG time to make-shout out to my mom, sister, and friend Tori for their help with these!
Our sweetheart table was draped in this beautiful rose gold sequined tablecloth, and we had these beautiful deer figurines (one for Battle and one for me!) to decorate.
My grandmother’s mink shrug was the perfect piece to keep me warm-only it ended up being 75 degrees haha! I had her coat cleaned for use on the day to keep me warm, but definitely didn’t need it the day of. However, I couldn’t let the opportunity pass to wear it for a few pictures.
My shoes were by Betsey Johnson Blue-definitely recommend the brand because they are all beautiful and have the prettiest blue soles to be your “something blue”. I was so happy with my choice to wear flats-they were comfortable and I am already tall enough without heels! My exact shoes are for sale here.
Still in love with my engagement ring-my husband picked it all on his own!
My band wasn’t even the matching set, but still looked like it was made for my engagement ring!
My bouquet was one of my favorite parts of the day. It was just what I wanted-pops of red, beautiful winter vibes, and classic but not too put together. Plus, she included rosemary sprigs in the bouquets and they smelled amazing. My florist, Nanci from Atlanta Wedding Florals, is the best vendor to work with. She has amazing vision, keeps your costs low, and is one of those people you can tell genuinely enjoys her work.
We got this giant mirror from the Ballard’s outlet, and my mom did hand calligraphy to write the table seating chart. It was the perfect statement piece as people walked in to find their tables!
My husband’s groom cake was an amazing confection of all chocolate. We put the “Browning Love” Mr. & Mrs. topper because my maiden name is Browning, and my husband loves to hunt!
My cake was actually a number of cakes. I had many different flavored round cakes because I couldn’t pick just one! This one was coffee flavored.
We went skiing for our honeymoon, so we thought this was the cutest topper for the cake we cut! This one was a delicious red velvet.
My Bridal Portraits
I love myself in up-do’s, so I chose to do a twisted side-parted updo and loved how it turned out! I wanted to be able to show off the stunning back of my dress, and my beautiful drop earrings.
Happiest day of my life! I loved the classic scalloped neckline of my gorgeous Madison James gown. I chose this taffeta because I thought the silky/satin look of it was perfect for a winter day.
I definitely picked this dress for the beaded back! And it was SO comfortable.
I loved the full ballgown feel of my dress and how much volume it had!
My bridesmaids looked stunning in simple metallic Ralph Lauren gowns. A similar one is available this year here. The pictures don’t even do justice to how stunning these looked during our candlelight ceremony!
I loved the way the flowers popped against our dresses!
My mom’s dress was so stunning and she looked so beautiful. Her Tadashi Shoji gown is no longer available, but I definitely recommend the brand for mother of the bride dresses that are true showstoppers!
The Bride and Groom
This was our first look!
It was seriously the best day ever! But, it was just the beginning of our marriage and a lifetime together, for which I am so grateful.
I know this was a longer than normal post, but thanks for reading this far along!
